  • An appointed position by the Arnprior Minor Hockey Executive.
  • Reports Directly to the District 5 Referee-in-chief
  • Responsible for All On-Ice Game Officials
  • Responsible for recruiting new minor hockey officials as required.
  • Deals with all complaints regarding On-Ice Officials, Off-Ice Officials, Team Officials, Players and Spectators
  • Ensures certified, qualified On-Ice Officials officiate at all times
  • Deals with all training, mentoring, and discipline on On-Ice Officials
  • Sets the level of game On-Ice Officials may officiate based on their skill level
  • Ensures that Hockey Canada, ODMHA, District 5, UOVMHL, and AMHA rules and guidelines are followed pertaining to the use of minor hockey officials for sanctioned minor hockey games.
  • Ensures all Game Incident Reports and attached gamesheets are sent to the appropriate District Bodies
  • Responsible for billing Arnprior Minor Hockey and the Officials Payroll

If during a game in Arnprior a player or Team Official is eject from the game or a Game Incident Report is required, the Arnpior Team Manager is required to provide a stamped envelope to the Referee with the League Convenor's name and address on it.

This mostly applies to the competitive level. Competitive Team Managers have the address for their League Convenor.

The Referee will fill out the Game Incident Report, place it and the top copy of the game sheet into the Black Referee Box in the Referee's Room and then contact the Arnprior Referee-in-chief. The Arnprior Referee-in-cheif will pick up the envelope, fax the information to the appropriate individuals and mail the documents to the League Convenor.

ABUSE OF OFFICIALS

Any player or team official who intentionally touches, holds or pushes a Referee, Linesman or Off-ice Official; before, during or after a game shall be assessed a Match penalty and shall be reported to the President by the Referee-in-cheif

Any player or team official who deliberately strikes, trips or body checks a Referee, Linesman or Off-ice Official; before, during or after a game shall be assessed a Match penalty and shall be reported to the President by the Referee-in-cheif. Such player or team official may be suspended for one year or more.

Any player or team official who threatens or attempts to strike a Referee, Linesman or any Off-ice Official; before, during or after a game shall be assessed a Match penalty and shall be reported to the President by the Referee-in-cheif.

In any case of the above mentioned, copies of all documents including the Game Incident Report, Gamesheet, interview notes and, witness accounts will be faxed directly to the ODMHA office. A hearing will be scheduled and ALL parties involved will be required to participate. Because of the serious nature of these circumstances, additional disciplinary actions may be attached to the ODMHA Ruling by either the District 5 Executive, Arnpior Minor Hockey Executinve, The Canadian Hockey Association, or all of the above.

REGULAR / PLAY-OFF GAMES

Convenors are responsible for advising Referee Assignor of game dates and times, A MINIMUM OF 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE.

TOURNAMENT ICE

Tournament Convenors are responsible for advising Referee Assignor of game dates and times a minimum of one week in advance.

GENERAL RULES FOR REFEREES
  • Any player who is also a referee may not play in any game if under suspension as a Referee.
  • Any Referee who is also a player may not officiate any game if under suspension as a Player.
  • On ice officials are prohibited from refereeing games played by immediate family. An official may be permitted to work as a lineman only in the three man system
  • For all games played in the UOVMHL, there must be at least one Level 2 official for Novice and Atom games, and at least one Level 3 official for Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget games
  • For all games played in the UOVMHL there must be a minimum of two officials before the game is to start
  • Officials must be at least one division older that the players they are officiating.
  • Officials who are unable to officiate an assigned game must ensure that the replacement official is qualified to officiate the game. Failure to do so may result in diciplinary action to both the original official and the replacement official.
