AMHA Ice Scheduling Update
I am happy to announce that the UOVMHL ice scheduler has completed regular season game scheduling for all divisions and levels. I am now looking to address any game conflicts and rescheduling needs to ensure all regular season games are set.
Concurrently, I am trying complete the remaining scheduling of practice ice allocations. House allocations are well underway and almost complete, while allocations to the rep teams is ongoing to complete scheduling for additionally purchased ice. Where availability permits or becomes available I will certainly strive to convert shared practices to individual practices where possible. There isn’t a perfect science to this exercise and many factors must be considered while scheduling needs continue to change for every level.
There has been many enquires lately as to practice allocations during certain months and concerns around shared ice times. The month of October saw a greater number of practice times with the making of teams and the need to get the players out on the ice together prior to the start of the regular season. In November regular ice allotments have been significantly impacted by AMHA house home tournaments and other NSC events almost every weekend which has resulted in less practice times or the need for shared ice times at all levels. December and January also have several events which will also have similar impact on regular ice allotments along with holiday blackout dates for game play.
AMHA has regular ice times on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. In terms of weeknight play there aren’t sufficient ice slots for every team to have a dedicated/lone ice time given the number of teams and duration time for certain team levels. As a result there is a need to have shared practices to ensure all teams are hitting the ice on a regular basis.
Current practice allotments run until the end of the regular season (February 5th for all levels except for U18 House which ends sooner). As teams move into the playoffs they will be provided with new ice allocations for practices and game scheduling. Ice allocations will end once a team has been eliminated.
Parents who have questions and concerns are encouraged to speak with their respective team manager. Team managers are asked to speak with the appropriate convener for any general enquiries they need help with. Conveners will in turn work with me to address ice questions or concerns. Managers can still reach out directly to me for regular game and practice changes or schedule updates.
Teams interested in having a practice scheduled between Christmas and New Year’s should have their managers contact [email protected]
I greatly appreciate everyone’s ongoing patience as scheduling efforts continue.
