AMHA Notice: Glenn Arthur Arena Re-Opening Update
September 25th they are open....

The Glenn Arthur Arena has opened today, Thursday, September 25 at 5:00pm. Your patience, understanding and accommodation throughout this process is very much appreciated. We hope that this revitalized space would do Glenn proud and it seems fitting that we return to action on his arena.

Attached here is a notice that outlines what’s been done, works still to come and some general housekeeping items. We’ll be posting this publicly tomorrow morning and I would appreciate if you can share thigs information with your membership ahead of your first ice time.

New doors will be installed in the dressing room hallways that will provide direct access to the benches. They are not yet installed so all players will have to enter the arena via the Glenn Arthur Arena lobby then onto the ice or visitor’s bench.

While the following items are all outlines in your rental contracts, I wanted to reiterate some key policies and guidelines:

  • Dressing Rooms: As part of your rental, you have access to your dressing room 30 minutes prior to and 25 minutes following your rental. Please respect the dressing room assignments that are designated on the boards outside of the dressing rooms. The contract holder or designated representative (i.e. team coach) must ensure dressing rooms are left in a well-maintained state following their use. Please only use the dressing room(s) assigned to your rental.
  • Equipment: Full equipment must be worn by participants at all times when a puck and/or contact is part of the activity. Coaches must, at a minimum, wear a helmet. User groups / renters opting to not comply, must provide a statement in writing to [email protected] that they are not following this condition. Those using the Town's facility user insurance program, must comply with this condition or seek alternate insurance coverage.
  • Ice Access: Players and coaches must use the designated access point to the ice surface. Access in the Zamboni area is strictly forbidden at all times for the safety of players, coaches, parents, spectators and facility staff.
  • Zamboni Safety: Players and coaches are prohibited from being on the ice and on the bench when the Zamboni is on the ice.  Failure to follow this policy will eliminate any ice flooding/resurfacing during the rental period.
  • General Areas: The Nick Smith Centre is a multi-use recreation complex serving various programs and user groups. Please respect the shared space, our facility users and visitors by sharing the space and ensure general areas are free from equipment bags or horseplay.
  • Smoke Free Grounds: The Smoke Free Ontario Act states that the smoking of tobacco and/or cannabis and the use of E-cigarettes (vaping) is prohibited within 20 meters of the grounds of a community recreational facility, children’s playgrounds and schools. As such, you are required to be 20 meters from the grounds (property) of the Nick Smith Centre in order to smoke or vape.
  • Alcohol Policy: The consumption of alcohol is prohibited inside the Nick Smith Centre, including but not limited to dressing rooms, stands and benches. Alcohol in the Nick Smith Centre Parking Lot is also prohibited. Alcohol may only be consumed when purchased under the Town’s liquor licence at a Town-run or operated event. The Town is working towards a licenced area (mezzanine) in the Bert Hall Arena however that is not available at this time. Any consumption of alcohol will result in the involvement of security or OPP followed by suspension of ice time.

Any questions, please let us know.

Thank You
